Hyderabad: A BTech student was allegedly raped by her acquaintance in Keesara on Tuesday. The 19-year-old victim approached Keesara police alleging that a person named Naresh, an autorickshaw driver from Ambedkarnagar, picked her up on his bike and took her to a deserted area behind Rajiv Gruha Kalpa to sexually assault her. As the accused is absconding, police has booked a case against him for rape and started efforts to nab him.

The offence occurred between 10.30 AM and 11 AM when the girl, a first year B Tech student, who knew Naresh, went with him as he promised to drop her at her destination.

“The girl said in the complaint that she was on her way to visit her mother, who is admitted in a hospital. The accused picked her up promising to drop her at the hospital, but took her to an isolated place and raped her,” said P Guruva Reddy, Inspector of Police, Keesara.

After raping her, the accused dropped her at the hospital, and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anybody.

However, the girl told her mother and relatives, who then contacted Keesara police. Meanwhile, the accused Naresh has gone absconding.

The girl was soon sent for a medical examination, and an FIR was registered on her complaint.

“We have booked a case under IPC section 376 for rape, and started an investigation,” said the Inspector. Police would also add relevant sections as the investigation progress.
