9-year-old schoolboy kidnapped for ransom in Vizag

The alleged kidnappers had asked for a ransom of Rs 30 lakh over calls

Visakhapatnam: A 9-year-old boy was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified men in Chintala Agraharam area in Visakhapatnam.

The incident came to light on Thursday morning, when his father approached the cops to rescue his only son, days after the Korubilli Damodhar was kidnapped. The alleged kidnappers had asked for a ransom of Rs 30 lakh over calls.

According to the police and the parents, Damodhar had gone to Gajuwaka area in the city without informing his parents on September 8 evening. As the boy didn’t return home, the father lodged a complaint at Pendurthi police station in the city and a missing case was registered on September 9. The boy’s father also released some pamphlets stating that his son went missing and announced a cash prize after the cops were unable to figure his whereabouts.

The police said they had formed four special teams to rescue the boy and also to nab the kidnappers. The police are also suspecting that the boy initially went missing and later was kidnapped after the boy’s father announce cash prize.
