Vijayawada: Here is some very good news for Vijayawada citizens. The city may get 24X7 power supply soon, without even implementing any new systems.

APSPDCL, Vijayawada circle, officials are confident that they will be able to implement the 24X7 power supply promise for the city from October 2. They remind that they have been supplying power without load-shedding to the city since the past two months. However, the APSPDCL is imposing seven hours of power cuts in the district.

As per officials, they would need 4.5 million units of power per day to provide uninterrupted power, while Krishna district needs 14 million units per day. APSPDCL, Vijayawada circle SE Krishna Mohan said that they have not yet received any instructions from the state government on the 24X7 power supply.

“We can implement the proposed 24x7 power supply promise in the city without introducing any new system,” Mr Krishna Mohan said.

He said that the APSPDCL has proposed separate power lines for the agriculture sector.

“If this proposal is implemented, we can supply three-phased power to villages too,” Mr Krishna Mohan said.

The APSPDCL official reminded that the 800 MW Krishnapatnam thermal power project and the 1,000 MW Hinduja projects would begin generating power from January.

“When this is done, the state government can introduce the 24x7 power scheme comfortably,” Mr Krishna Mohan said.
