Working with Shah Rukh Khan is a delight: Boman Irani
Boman says my success is a combination of hard work and luck
Mumbai: With a career spanning a successful decade in B-town, Boman Irani is a happy man indeed. “My success is a combination of hard work and luck,” says the actor.
While character artistes struggled for years to find a niche, Boman came into his own with a mix of serious and comedy roles in both commercial and off-beat films.
“I’m glad that I didn’t stick to a certain genre or an image. Apart from Munnabhai MBBS and 3 Idiots, there was a Veer Zaara and Khosla Ka Ghosla as well. Mehmood sir is an actor I’ve always admired. He was known for his comic timing, yet he also did films that had a social message. Over the years, he has been an inspiration for many actors. If I achieve even 20 per cent of his success, I’ll be honoured,” Boman tells us.
Boman is currently looking forward to the release of Happy New Year, and admits, “Being a part of big films ensures a (wider) reach. But at the end of it all, every actor has to stand up for himself. Working with actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan is challenging because one always has to strive hard to get noticed.”
Quality cinema, he adds, is his motivation to work, and not money. “Money is important. But I’d never work in a mediocre set up or with people I’m uncomfortable with irrespective of the money.
