Hyderabad: On Wednesday morning citizens missed out on the historical event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi announcing Mangalyaan entering the Mars orbit and the jubilant scientists at Isro celebrating the success.
The first phase of power cuts, which began as early as 6 am, resulted in most citizens missing out on the enthusiasm, and the four hours of scheduled cuts which are back in the city, will also play spoilsport to the festive fervour as power cuts are here to stay for at least 20 days.
The power crisis has returned to Telangana as hydel generation has dipped and massive power cuts (six to eight hours) have begun in the districts again and even Hyderabad is experiencing three to four-hour cuts due to the Krishna River Board restricting water flows into the Srisailam Dam.
The situation is likely to worsen by Thursday and will continue to remain bad for another 20 days, till the Kharif season goes on.
The TSSPDCL (Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company) formally announced imposing four hours of scheduled load relief in the twin cities. While the power deficit was 11 million units (MU) on Tuesday, it was expected to go up to 26 MU by Wednesday night as generation from Srisailam alone has gone down from 900 mw to 300 MW.
