Hyderabad: Senior Congress legislator T. Jeevan Reddy on Wednesday criticised Telangana PCC president Ponnala Lakshmaiah for his statement about taking moral responsibility for the defeat of Congress candidate in Medak bypoll.
Speaking at a press conference, Mr Jeevan Reddy demanded an explanation from Mr Lakshmaiah regarding what exactly he meant by moral responsibility.
“Congress party in Telangana is now at crossroads and the situation is very bad for the party. There should be an introspection into why the party lost in an election, who should be held responsible for it and what action should be proposed. There is a need to clarify all these,” Mr Jeevan Reddy said.
The Congress MLA also demanded Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to recognise all those students and youth who fought hard and even sacrificed their lives for the sake of a separate Telangana state and put them on par with freedom fighters of India and those who liberated Hyderabad state from the clutches of the Nizams. He demanded sufficient financial package for the students and youth besides scrapping all the pending cases against them.
