Prime ministers office transferred 48 joint secretary-level officers
New Delhi: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has effected transfers of 48 joint secretary-level officers to bring in new faces across Central ministries in one go. It is the first and big-gest reshuffle of bureaucrats by the NDA government. The list includes four joint secretaries in the home ministry, including the officer on special duty (OSD) to former home minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

A 1989 batch Maharashtra cadre IAS officer, I.S. Chahal, was holding charge of the Union Territories division in the MHA after serving as OSD to Mr Shinde. He has been transferred to the wo-men and child development ministry. Along with Mr Chahal, the joint secretary in the  ministry in charge of border management, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, has been moved to water resources.

Raising eyebrows, another joint secretary holding charge of the crucial Police II division of the MHA, Nirmaljeet Kalsi, has been moved out of the MHA in overnight orders from the Prime Ministers Office.
