Microsoft encourages women to take a stand in tech

Microsoft plans to spread the awareness about the importance of IT industry among women

Microsoft India has launched its mission known as ‘Women in Tech’, which aims at encouraging women to take a stand in the Indian IT industry. The tech giant has decided to train around one million women in India to move forward with its initiative

It plans to introduce the importance of IT industries to girl school students, young women students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) colleges, women IT professionals and women entrepreneurs. Microsoft is trying its level best to inspire Indian women prefer IT as a good career option. The company claims that 150,000 girls across 1,000 high schools will participate in this program during the next year.

STEM courses will be offered to 750,000 women, which will be followed up by career counseling and mentoring. Microsoft Ventures will mentor 30 women entrepreneurs and help them connect with the broader start-up ecosystem, in order to accelerate their business.

‘Our Women in Tech initiative is aimed at enabling India’s young girls and women find suitable careers in IT and accelerate their growth. Through the course of the next year, we will provide one million women access to awareness sessions, training and certification programs, and mentoring sessions,’ stated Joseph Landes, Chief Evangelist, Microsoft India. Women in tech will soon be able to create network, and learn from each other by sharing ideas and learnings across the board.
