Modi hailed US President Barack Obama’s life journey

New Delhi: India on Thursday described the US as a “vital partner” in its national development and hoped ties will be taken to a “new level”, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed US President Barack Obama’s “life journey” as a “remarkable testimony to the rights and opportunities that democracies provide, and an inspiration for people”.

The comments came in Mr Modi’s statement before his departure for the US on Thursday evening. India also hoped that the PM’s September 26-30 visit will “mark the start of a new chapter in the strategic partnership” between the two nations.
