Mohali: Riding on Manan Vohra and Virender Sehwag's fiery innings, Kings XI Punjab posted a mammoth total 215/5 on board against Northern Knights in the 13th match of the Champions League T20 at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on Friday.
None of the bowlers from Northern Knights could shine and most of their economy rate shot double figures. Ish Sodhi claimed two wickets.
Live score: Kings XI 215/5 (17 overs; D Miller* 40 (18) W Saha 2* (3)
Kings XI Punjab hold a 100 per cent record at home so far, winning both of their opening games against Hobart Hurricanes and Barbados Tridents with relatively consummate ease. With their majority of theur batsmen and bowlers doing a fine job, KXIP would be keen to add one more win to their win.
On the other hand, the Knights, who notched up a win in their first group match against Cape Cobra riding on the back of Kane Williamson's unbeaten 101 and Anton Devcich's strokeful 67, will be somewhat down after their loss to Hobart Hurricanes on Tuesday.
The thing which would be worrying the Knights more was the manner of their defeat against Hurricanes. The Australian side produced a commanding performance to hammer their Trans-Tasman rivals by 86 runs at Raipur.
Key players:
Thisara Perera:
The Sri Lankan has been putting in some valuable contributions for KXIP with bat and ball. Not only has he been amongst wickets, he is also maintaining a a good economy rate. The George Bailey-led unit would be expecting him to continue his good show.
Kane Williamson:
While Williamson could not do much in Northen Knights previous game, he already has scored a hundred in CLT20. If he can regain his batting form, the side from New Zealand will have a better chance to outsmart the hosts.
