BJP meets Maharashtra Governor, seeks President rule

Guv may call the state BJP unit on Saturday to explore the possibility of govt formation

New Delhi: Maharashtra governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao is likely to recommend the dissolution of the Assembly and imposition of President’s Rule as early as Saturday.
 
A source said: “The Governor may call the state BJP unit on Saturday to explore the possibility of government formation. After exhausting all the options, he may recommend imposition of Central rule.”
 
The state BJP has already approached the governor and sought the imposition of President’s Rule in the state.

Notably, Mr Chavan tendered his resignation a day after the decades-long Congress-NCP alliance ended in the state. The NCP’s announcement came minutes after the BJP ended its 25-year alliance with the Shiv Sena. All the four major parties will contst alone in the polls.
