Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM on Friday slammed Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh for his “politically motivated” visit to Kannur and alleged that his trip would influence the investigations into the murder case.
CPM politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan told DC that the minister's visit was part of BJP’s move to get the CBI to probe the murder. “Though the central agency is yet to take up the matter, the minister’s stand against the CPM which was made public in Kannur today will reflect in the CBI probe. So with his visit, practically all possibilities of a free and fair probe have ended,’’ he added.
He said his party had already made it clear that it had no role in the Manoj murder. “As far as the probe is concerned, it is up to the centre to decide the agency or type of probe. We are only opposing the political conspiracy,'' he added. He accused the state government of being hand in glove with the BJP. “Under pressure from the centre, the state government is also playing along. There is a clear conspiracy between the centre and the state government against the CPM,’’ he added.
A sustained campaign would be conducted in Kannur and other parts of the state to expose the conspiracy against CPM, he said. The party leadership had earlier accused Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala of warming up to the RSS on the Manoj murder issue.
