Farmers Dasara takes off

Mysore: Wearing a green saree, green icon, Saalumarada Thimmakka, joined cultural troupes which made their way all along the streets of Mysore to where the farmers’ Dasara opened on Saturday . “I last saw Dasara when Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar took part in the Jumbo Savari in the 1950s. I have prayed to Goddess Chamundeswari to bless the state with adequate rain,” she said. Thimmakka also met Maharani Pramoda Devi and greeted her on Dasara.
“I have requested the Maharani to invite me to the swearing- in ceremony of the successor of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar,” Thimmakka told the Deccan Chronicle. Over 2000 farmers from across the district participated in the inaugural event of the three -day farmers’ Dasara which will showcase latest farm techniques, and water conservation methods to encourage farmers to go in for them.
