The Shiv Sena has decided to contest 286 constituencies on its own

New Delhi: On Saturday  Prithviraj Chavan’s resignation was accepted by Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao after the Congress-led state government was reduced to a minority as the NCP withdrew its ministers and pulled out of the government. The NCP decided to terminate its 15-year-old alliance with the Congress as talks between the two parties on seat-sharing ahead of the October 15 Assembly polls failed.

The Shiv Sena, BJP and its allies, Congress and its allies and the NCP are contesting from almost all the seats. The Raj Thackeray-led MNS will also be in the fray in a majority of the constituencies.

The Shiv Sena has decided to contest 286 constituencies on its own. The two constituencies that the party is not contesting includes the Parli constituency of the late BJP leader Gopinath Munde, where his dau-ghter Pankaja is contesting. Congress has decided to go solo in all 288 maha seats.
