Woman poisoned to death by husband and in-laws
She refused to return her wedding gift to them at Kakroli village in Muzaffarnagar
Muzaffarnagar: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly poisoned to death by her husband and in-laws when she refused to return her wedding gift to them at Kakroli village here, police said on Monday.
Salma (20) was poisoned by her husband, Javed and in-laws when she refused to return the gift of two bighas of land, which was given by her husband at the time of their marriage, SHO Kakroli police station Kuldeep Kumar said.
The victim had eloped with Javed on March 27. The two later got married with the blessings of their families on April 15, after the gift of land was made to her by the accused, police said.
The victim's father, Ahmad, in a complaint lodged on Sunday told the police that a month after marriage, her husband and in-laws allegedly started torturing her to return the land to them.
A case has been registered against five people including Javed, father-in-law Aslam, mother-in-law Sanno, brother-in-law Bhura and his wife Sabra Begum for her murder, police said.
The police is on a lookout for the accused, he added.
