Hyderabad: This Dasara season has seen liquor sales plummet by 30 per cent, said the liquor shop dealers.

D. Venkateswar Rao, the president of Twin Cities Wine Dealers’ Association, said, “The sales started slumping from September 25, the first day of Navratri. Many shops, which had a daily counter sale of Rs 2 lakh, saw a drop of 25-30 per cent fall.”

Further, this year, October 2, which is a dry day due to Gandhi Jayanti, also falls during the Navratri.

“Though, the day of Dasara has good liquor sales, the slump that we  experienced during the Navratri season cannot be covered.”
