Hyderabad: The zanana-mardana system practiced in the Muslim community will now be adapted in the city for the safety of women. From October 1, the TS Road Transport Corporation will operate buses with grills separating men’s and women’s sections.

On an experimental basis, these buses will be operated on the Secunderabad-Charminar route (8A).

However, activist Jameela Nishat of Shaheen of Women Resource and Welfare Association said, “The separation will only increase male curiosity. We need to change men’s mentality.”
