The district administration decided to set up one RO plant in each mandal in the district. Though officials decided to set up 56 plants in 56 mandals in district, due to poor response from donors, they have taken steps to set up one RO plant in each Assembly segment. They will start 12 RO plants in 12 Assembly constituencies, which will be inaugurated on October 2.  The officials have decided to start the remaining RO plants in a phased manner.

Meanwhile, the Ongole Municipal Corporation has taken steps to open three RO plants in the city under the scheme. Municipal commissioner Ch. Vijayalakshmi said, “During the first phase, we will open three RO plants in Ongole city.”

Almost all the mandals in the district are fluoride-affected. Those who consume fluoride contaminated drinking water will get kidney problems and other health risks. The OMC officials have identified 16 places to set up RO plants and decided to set up remaining RO plants in a phased manner due to lack response from the donors.
