First techie Charity Fest to be held at Technopark
G.Tech initiative hopes to bring in every member of the 40,000-strong community
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A series of charity programmes and fun-filled events like CEO-bashing will be initiated by techies at the Technopark from October 2 to 8 as part of DaanUtsav - Festival of Giving, an annual event being held in various states since 2009. It is for the first time the event is being held in Kerala.
Technopark chief executive officer K.G. Girish Babu said that the idea was to bring together every single member of the 40,000-strong Technopark community. The Group of Technology Companies (GTech) is taking the initiate to introduce the event which is held in connection with Gandhi Jayanthi.
The employees from various companies will join kids from care homes in craft works like pot-painting and auction the products on the campus. Various events will also be held in the coastal areas of the city aimed at bringing the under-privileged to Technopark and help them participate in the events. To ensure maximum participation, there will be fun-filled activities like CEO-bashing, where employees could throw sponge balls at their respective chief executive officer, that too for a price.
“The main objective of the event is to inculcate in the youth the need to be compassionate towards fellow beings,” said Aptara Inc vice-president T. Vijay Kumar, one of the chief organisers. “We hope the initiative would go viral in Technopark,” he said. As part of charity initiatives, the GTech also plans to adopt charity organisation H20, said a statement.
