Hyderabad: While the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments are at loggerheads, busy scoring brownie points, tennis players Sania Mirza and Saketh Myneni, hailing from these two states, have scored big time — an Asian Games gold medal for India, on a marvellous Monday.
The Hyderabad-Vizag combination won India’s sixth gold at Incheon, South Korea. While congratulations poured in, the Telangana tennis body put out the best in terms of bonhomie. “Telangana State Tennis Association congratulates Sania Mirza & Saketh Myneni for getting gold at the Asian Games It is nice that a mixed doubles title was won by Telangana & Andhra players,” said Ashok Kumar, TSTA secretary.
Sania on her part, was busy packing up to play another tournament that starts in Beijing, China, on Tuesday. She had Dasara on her mind though. “I will not be present in the season’s festive atmosphere in Telangana but I hope Saketh and I have given the people of India and Telangana a reason to celebrate!” she said.
