Hyderabad: All the major alternative routes identified following the ban on civilian traffic movement on AOC roads have several problems. Even after 10 pm, the narrow Trimulgherry main road sees heavy traffic flow from Secunderabad (Patny-Paradise) and Old Bowenpally as well as heavy vehicles coming from the Karimnagar Highway (Alwal). Experts said that making Trimulgherry one of the main alternative roads will only add load to the already jam-packed road.

Anand Baba, a resident of Karkhana, said, “Constructing a flyover at Trimulgherry will be a tough task. At the main junction, the flyover will have to take a steep turn towards R.K. Puram flyover, which is dangerous. Late at night, call centre cabs zoom past Trimulgherry and heavily loaded trucks from Karimnagar Highway also use this road. Several hit-and-run cases have been reported on this stretch.”

Meanwhile, the Tukaram Gate, which can be an alternative for residents from Safilguda, Malkajgiri and Anand Bagh and surrounding colonies, cannot take much traffic as the route passes through residential lanes and by-lanes of Hanumannagar. The Tukaram Gate railway track is another obstacle. Already traffic jams are witnessed along the East Marredpally road.

The other possible alternative is the Moula Ali Road linking to Tarnaka Road. But this is a very long route for residents of Sainikpuri, Neeredmet and Yapral. So far, despite the HC direction, the GHMC, Road & Building department and Hyderabad-Cyberabad traffic departments have neither studied the traffic nor have they submitted the report.

Meanwhile, traffic jams were witnessed on the AOC Road on Tuesday morning when the Army officials carried out security checks. Commuters complained of jawans checking vehicles without having a designated area to park vehicles. People said an ambulance also found it difficult to find free way.
