Eluru: West Godavari collector K. Bhaskar said that they were making all the necessary arrangements to organise Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme beginning from October 2 to 20 in the district.
Speaking to newsmen here on Tuesday, the collector said that except on Vijaya Dasami and Sundays, the programme would be held for 14 days and added that in every mandal two teams of officials led by MPDO and tahsildar, were appointed and they would visit two villages in day to organise the Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme.
As part of the programme, pensions would be disbursed to eligible persons and medical and veterinary camps would be organised besides bringing about awareness among the villagers on several programmes like Badi Pilustondhi, Polam Pilustondhi, Neeru-Chettu, Swacha Andhra Pradesh and others, the collector said and added that an awareness drive would also be taken up on grids, including water, power, road, gas and fibre optic connectivity grid.
He said that three lakh pensioners were identified to be genuine out of a total of 3.30 lakh pensioners existing in the district during inspection and added that funds were released to give away the pension amount to them.
He said that NTR Sujala Sravanthi units would be set up one in every segment during Janmab-hoomi.
