Kashmir victims seek rice, medicine
The relief materials collected will be transported free of cost by the Indian Railways
kollam: “Our kids were happily playing with toys a few days back, but they lost it all of a sudden. The people of Kashmir have lost everything including their houses in the devastating flood. We need food, medicines, and even warm clothes to face the severe winter that is fast approaching,” said Sabeer Bhatt, one of the victims who visited Kerala seeking aid to rebuild Kashmir that was shattered in the recent floods.
A group of Kashmiris including the victims of the flood will travel throughout the State with the support of Nehru Youth Centre backed by the State Government. The people will collect rice, clothes, medicines, and toys as a temporary relief that will be distributed in Kashmir by the volunteers of the Nehru Youth Center.
“The people who have sought aid will be supported by the Government. The relief materials collected will be transported free of cost by the Indian Railways. The help offered as money will be channelized through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund,” said ADM B. Unnikrishnan.
The representatives from Kashmir include Hammed Khudri, Panchayat President and victims Shabeer Bhatt and Ityasau. The team will collect blankets, rice, medicines, and toys for children. The relief materials should be entitled ‘District Magistrate, Uddhampur District, Jammu Kashmir’ and handed over to the Railway Parcel Service.
Medicines worth more than Rs 15 lakh and other materials worth Rs 20 lakh have been collected through Nehru Youth Centres across the State till now. The Center focuses on reaching the materials to the rural areas of the affected state.
