Madras High Court restrains release of Tamil film - Kanniyum Kaalayum Sema Kadhal
The arbitrator issued notice to Singham Cinnema on August 25
Chennai: The Madras high court has restrained Singham Cinnema from releasing the Tamil film Kanniyum Kaalayum Sema Kadhal. Justice M. Duraiswamy granted the interim injunction for four weeks while ordering notice to Singham Cinnema and posting to October 17 further hearing of the petition from M. Gagan Bothra.
According to the petitioner, he had entered into an agreement with Singham Cinema, producer and director of the film Kanniyum Kaalayum Sema Kadhal, for the purchase of the film and paid Rs 40 lakh for the entire movie.
As per the deal, Singham Cinnema had agreed to transfer the entire negative rights of the movie in all formats. However, since there was some dispute, arbitration proceedings were initiated as per the agreement. The arbitrator issued notice to Singham Cinnema on August 25. While so, he reliably learnt that the film was likely to be released at any moment. Hence, he filed the present petition.
