Bengaluru: The ADGP & IGP of prisons, K.V. Gagandeep, met the jailed former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday evening to supervise the security arrangements and enquired about her well-being.

Gagandeep later told DC that he met Jayalalithaa around 5 pm. “I supervised the security arrangements and met her. I asked her whether she needed any specialised treatment and should arrangements be made to shift her to some government hospital. But she said that she was comfortable in the prison and the prison doctors were available round the clock. Thus there was no need to shift her to any hospital.”

Meanwhile, sources said that Jayalalithaa, who was refusing jail food, had brown bread for breakfast on Tuesday.

“She also had roti and curd rice prepared in the jail for lunch,” sources added.
