Chennai: Congress leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge on Tuesday accused the Modi- led BJP regime of merely ‘repackaging’ the schemes of the UPA and propagating them as theirs.

Addressing party cadres after unveiling the statues of veteran Congress leaders Satyamurthy and Kamarajar along with Kerala CM Oomen Chandy at the state party headquarters Satyamurthy Bhavan, Mr Kharge listed out a host of schemes, including the Mangalyaan, Mumbai-Ahmedabad high speed train project among others and said the UPA had prepared the groundwork for the schemes and the present BJP regime was selling them as its own.

Referring to BJP’s opposition to FDI in defence, judicial appointment reform and food security bill during the UPA regime, Kharge said the BJP government is now doing the same, except the food security Act that got passed in the UPA tenure. Mr Oommen Chandy recalled the Congress comeback after Emergency and said that all in the party were responsible for the recent setback it got in Lok Sabha polls.
