I feel like it’s me who has won: Priyanka Chopra

Mumbai: Priyanka Chopra was ecstatic when Mary Kom won the gold medal at the on-going Asian Games. But in her excitement, the actress seems to have blurted out words that haven’t gone down well with everybody. Priyanka said, “I feel like it’s me who has won the gold medal.”

Her statement has attracted a lot of flak from the industry. Essaying the role of a legend on screen is very different from trying to bask in the legend’s glory off-screen. Farhan Akhtar, who played Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, never tried to step into the legend’s shoes in real life. Priyanka’s honest expression has become the talk of town.

PC’s loyalists however are quick to defend her. A close associate says, “I think people are just jumping the gun. Priyanka and Mary have a connection that is beyond their film. It was just her way of showing her pride in Mary Kom’s victory. That’s all.”
