Over 2.5 lakh devotees view Durga temple festival

Vijayawada: The presiding deity at Sri Kanaka Durga temple blessed the devotees in two avatarams on Thursday.
The deity was decorated as Durga Devi till 1 pm and Mahisasura Mardhini from 3 pm. A large number of devotees visited the temple to have a darshan.
The devotees flow started from early morning and a large number of devotees who observed Bhavani Deeksha were seen reaching the temple by walk from their respective villages in coastal districts, including West Godavari, East Godavari and Visakhapatnam. Over 2.5 lakh devotees visited the temple on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the officials made all arrangements for Sri Durga Malleswara Swami celestial boat ride (Teppotsavam) which will be organised in Krishna River on the occasion of Vijaya Dasami on October 3. As mark to end the nine-day Dasara festival celebrations, the celestial boat ride will be conducted on friday night. The celestial boat ride will be conducted with the idols of Durga and Malleswara Swami.
The boat was decorated in the mythical shape of swan (hamsa) Vahanam. All the officials and local legislators will participate in the auspicious event.
