Aurangabad: Refuting the Congress’ allegations about a secret understanding with the BJP, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday made it clear he would seek support only from “secular” parties.
After the Congress-NCP split, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan had alleged there was a secret understanding between the NCP and the BJP.
“NCP has always stood by secular parties and will do the same in future,” Mr Pawar told reporters, clearing the air on rumours about the possibility of an NCP post-poll alliance with the BJP.
Speculation had risen as the NCP’s alliance with the Congress was called off immediately after the BJP announced the break-up of its alliance with the Shiv Sena. The NCP chief blamed the Congress for the split.
