BENGALURU: Three people were injured and a two-storey building collapsed when a boiler exploded at an illegal textile dyeing unit on Anjaneya Street in Cubbonpet on Thursday afternoon. The blast also damaged some nearby structures.
The injured have been identified as Gurusiddappa, 35, Somashekhar, 50, and Tushanth, 30. They were being treated at a private hospital. According to the police, the incident took place at a sari dyeing and polishing unit run by Jagannath. Three workers were cleaning the unit for ‘Ayudha Puja’. In one of the textile dyeing boilers a worker had lit fire, but forgot to put it off. It got heated and exploded.
“There was no safety valve in the boiler and due to the impact, the two-storey building collapsed and even the adjacent buildings were also damaged. Nearly 10 houses in the area have been damaged as its window panes were broken due to the impact. Even some weaving units in the locality have been damaged due to the blast.
