CoimbatoreTension prevailed in Amman Kulam in the city on Thursday after a petrol bomb was hurled into a driver’s house. However, no one was injured.

On Thrusday morning, a petrol bomb exploded inside the house of A. Muneeswaran, 35, at Amman Kulam. The police suspect that the attack could be a sequel to a group clash that broke out soon after the imprisonment of former chief minister J. Jayalalithaa.

Two men came on a motorcycle and flung two petrol bombs into the house. While one petrol bomb exploded inside the house, another exploded outside. The police said the gang did not intend to target Muneeswaran but his neighbour who was involved in the group clashes last week.

The Race Course police have registered a case under the Explosive Substances Act and are conducting investigations. A special team, headed by inspector Chandrasekaran, is on the look-out for the suspects.
