Kochi: She was one of the most familiar faces on the small screen. Ishita Chauhan has created a place for herself by acting in almost 30 TV commercials and two Bollywood films. She is now taking the leap into Mollywood with the upcoming bilingual Asha Black.

Ishita, who is ecstatic about her debut film in Malayalam, began acting at the age of four. The Pune girl is cast opposite Arjun of Thanmathra fame in Asha Black.

“Asha Black is the story of a teenage girl who seeks emotional support outside her home. It’s a family drama which every parent and teenager must watch. The casting call for the film came through my mother’s friend. I went for the screen test and luckily the director John Robinson liked me and I bagged  the film,” Ishita chuckles.

Ishita admits it was tough to shoot in two languages Malayalam and Tamil. Despite the language barrier Ishita enjoyed working with Arjun and others. “Arjun is a good co-star. He is really supportive and friendly. Since I had a problem with the languages, Arjun helped me get the expressions right. He made me comfortable on the sets. John and the crew members were also very supportive.”

The young actress who started as a child artiste has come a long way. She has acted in almost 30 TV commercials in the South as well as in Hindi. She has worked in two Bollywood movies Aap Kaa Suroor with Himesh Reshammiya and Hansika Motwani and Hijack with Shiney Ahuja and Esha Deol.

Ishita is a pro in front of the camera. “Nobody taught me how to act. All the credit goes to my mother who used to take me to  shootings and told me how to act in front of the camera.”

Ishita informs that she has been getting many offers, both from South and North. “I love acting and I am learning more about the industry now. I’m keen to act in Malayalam and Tamil as well.” The actor has decided to be choosy.

“I need to be choosy and wanted to put some benchmark. I wanted to do some good roles that will bring out my potential as an actor,” says the young actor. Apart from acting, Ishita is good at dancing and painting as well. “I paint when I get time,” she sums up.
