3 die of suffocation at edible oil company
A case of negligence was registered against the management of the edible oil company
Hyderabad: Three persons died due to asphyxiation while cleaning an oil container at the Govardhan Oil Industries in Shamshabad on Saturday. The accident occurred when the management took up cleaning of the company which was shut for some days. The deceased were identified as M. Yadav, 30, M. Madhav, 28, both brothers and Suresh, 27, a native of Bihar.
Police said the company which manufactures edible oils was closed for three days and opened again on Saturday. Five persons including the victims went to clean the oil well which is about six to seven feet deep. While cleaning it, the pipes which were passing through it opened releasing hazardous gases.
“Within a short time, the victims suffocated and became unconscious. Though their colleagues rushed to their rescue, it was in vain,” said inspector T. Sudhakar of Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police station. A case of negligence was registered against the management of the edible oil company. The bodies were shifted to the hospital for a post mortem.
