Joyce George behaved like wild tusker
The action of the MP deserves to be condemned
Kottayam: Idukki MP Joyce George had behaved like wild tusker while trying to block my car, forest minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan told reporters on Saturday referring the untoward incident at Mamalakandam in Idukki district. “The beahviour of the MP was not suited to a representative of the people” he said, and added that ‘he was creating a problem deliberately”.
Even the CPM leaders in the area had intervened in the issue with a positive outlook, the minister said. The tribal people cannot be held responsible for the misconduct of a single individual, he said. The minister said that concession will be given for the construction of the roads in the tribal area. “We will approach the zonal office of the ministry of environment and forest for the purpose”, he added.
KPCC president VM Sudheeran said that it was not proper on the part of the MP to block the way of the minister. The action of the MP deserves to be condemned. The minister came to Mamlakandam to visit the place where the culverts constructed as part of a road to tribal settlement was demolished by forest officials. Joyce George had conducted a hunger strike against the demolition and it was withdrawn following the intervention of the chief minister Oommen Chandy.
