Cuddalore: Hundreds of NLC contract workers, who are on strike for the last 31 days demanding regularisation of services, were on Friday arrested along with their family members when they tried to picket the second lignite mines at Nevyeli here, police said.

Inspector V. Venugopal said over 2,000 workers, including their family members, were arrested when they tried to picket the mines. NLC public relations officer Sridhar said the strike has not affected power generation. The output was at 1610 MW against full capacity of 2490 MW. The workers are on strike to press their 6-point charter of demands.
