1,000 SC, ST students to be sent abroad by Andhra Pradesh
Govt will give Rs 10 lakh per year for each student while banks will give loans of Rs 10 lakh
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh social welfare minister Ravela Kishore Babu said that the government will liberalise the rules under the “Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi” Scheme to identify Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students to be sent abroad for studies.
Speaking to the media on Monday, he said, so far the government is only sending post graduate students abroad for studies. He said under graduate and diploma students should also be sent abroad. Mr Babu added that the government will identify 1,000 SC and ST students to be sent abroad for studies.
He also mentioned that the government will give Rs 10 lakh per year for each student while banks will give loans of Rs 10 lakh. Mr Babu added that the government is considering increasing this amount.
