THIRUVANANTHPAURAM: CPM is all set to adopt ‘special tactical line’ for attracting the powerful middle class particularly the youth, towards party in the wake of huge reverses suffered in West Bengal and many other parts of the country in the recent Lok Sabha polls.
From social networking sites to flash mobs, the note on urban issues and youth prepared for discussions at the 21st party Congress to be held in Vishakhapatnam in April 2015, discusses various innovative methods to draw youth to the party fold.
The party believes that under the new circumstances the party and student-youth organisations should use innovative forms of protests including flash mobs and on line petitions to raise genuine issues confronting the public. It could be related to facilities in education sector, civic issues and problems of urban youth. Instead of human chains and routine protests, the party now needs to come up with out of the box ideas and innovative forms of protests.
Party sources say that there was no point in holding on to the outdated programes which do not connect with today’s youth who are tech saavy and influenced hugely by market forces. Apart from being IT saavy, the party needs to approach the “new generation” with slogans and programmes that appeal to them.
