CoimbatoreErode mayor Mallika Paramasivam performed angapradakshinam at the Mariamman temple at Veerapanchathiram in Erode while Coimbatore mayor P. Rajkumar performed the Shatru Samhara yagna (enemy annihilation yagna) at Sangameswarar temple at Kottaimedu, in Coimbatore district, for the immediate release of their convicted leader Jayalalithaa from prison.
 
Hundreds of AIADMK cadres, including former mayor S.M. Velusamy and MLAs, took part in the yagna organised by mayor on Monday morning.
 
Thousands of AIADMK cadres formed a 120-km-long human chain stretching from the Kalingarayar channel in Erode to Dharapuram in Tirupur district.
 
AIADMK councillors in Coimbatore took out a rally, gagging themselves with black cloth, condemning the conviction of the AIADMK general secretary. A total of 79 Coimbatore corporation ward councillors, including 32 women councillors, took part in the rally led by mayor Rajkumar in the city on Monday.
 
The rally concluded with a demonstration in front of Red Cross Society. The AIADMK cadres raised slogans against the conviction of their party supremo.
 
Members of the wet grinders manufacturers, workers and dealers association staged a fast, wearing black cloth, in front of Tamil Nadu hotel in Gandhipuram on Monday morning to condemn the sentencing of the former CM.
