Mangalore: Activists and Congress leaders in Mangalore are unhappy with Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake for failing to solve long standing problems in Mangalore City Corporation which comes under his home district Dakshina Kannada.

During his first visit to Mangalore City last year, Sorake had assured to solve the problems in Mangalore City Corporation and also conduct a review of MCC once in three months. But these seem to have remained mere assurances as MCC has got nothing extra after Sorake took charge. Party leaders feel that not only has he failed to solve the problems but he has also added more to the list!

Sorake held a review meeting on June 17, 2013. After a year and four months he will now hold a meeting at MCC on Tuesday! "Sorake should have made MCC a model city corporation and an example to the entire state. But he has totally failed in this. In the last one and half years his contribution is zero," Nagarika Hitharakshana Vedike president Hanumanth Kamath told Deccan Chronicle.

"MCC has about 400 vacancies most of which are important posts like case workers, superintendents and clerks. It is not enough if only the top posts are filled. Posts like superintendents, case workers and clerks are very crucial in clearing files and getting common man’s work done. Due to staff shortage every file gets delayed,” he said.

Kamath is also unhappy with Sorake for not trying to stop illegal hoardings.
