Aamir Khan extends support to UNICEF nutrition programme
The actor was all praises for Narendra Modi's 'Clean India' campaign
Mumbai: Aamir Khan who is known to raise awareness on social issues participated in a UNICEF nutrition programme organised by a local women's group at Kapilvastu in western Nepal.
The actor spent quite some time at the Health Post where the women volunteers made a presentation on local nutrition status. After extensively talking to them, Aamir headed to Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Gautama Buddha.
During the visit, he will also be officially inducted as a regional Goodwill Ambassador for nutrition. According to reports, his visit has been kept a low-key affair keeping in mind the security hassles due to his wide fan following. Before wrapping up his visit, he will be addressing a press conference sharing his Nepal experience.
“Its been 3-4 years since I have been involved with this issue of malnutrition, we all need to fight it strongly. Malnutrition a big issue, UNICEF was keen I extend my responsibility as ambassador to whole of South Asia,” he mentioned.
He was all praises for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative for 'Clean India' campaign, he added, “PM's thought that on Mahatma Gandhi's 150th Birth Anniversary we must gift him a clean India is wonderful.”
