Mumbai: Bollywood celebrities Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, Rajkumar Hirani and Imtiaz Ali among others feature in the promotional campaign of the upcoming Mumbai Film Festival.
The 16th edition of the 8-day-long festival (October 14-21) will showcase over 185 films from more than 65 countries.
Anurag Kashyap, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Zoya Akhtar, Imran Khan,Siddharth Malhotra, Sonakshi Sinha and Huma Qureshi have also shot for the campaign promos to show support for the event.
The campaign is curated by filmmaker Shakun Batra and is helmed by National award-winning directors Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh.
"It was heartening to see so many people from the fraternity, give their valuable time to help the festival. I am very thankful to directors Satyanshu and Devanshu and the technicians who come on-board, purely out of their love for cinema," said Shakun Batra, curator for the promos.
Last month it was reported that festival organisers were struggling for funds to put together the 2014 edition and since then Bollywood stars have been urging people to donate for the event.
While superstar Aamir Khan donated Rs 11 lakh for the festival, megastar Amitabh Bachchan requested his fans online to raise funds.
The director duo, who did the campaign for free, said they had always been fans of the film festival.
"We have been hardcore MAMI fans, watching five movies every day at the festival every year. It is a great feeling to see the festival taking place despite the initial road blocks. The moment Shakun approached us with the offer to write and direct the festival promo, we knew we had to do it," said Satyanshu.
