kottayam: Transport and Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has requested the Chief Minister and the Home Minister not to register any  case against Idukki MP Joice George for ‘manhandling’ him at Mamalakandam in Idukki the other day.

Mr Radhakrishnan told reporters at Kuttikkanam,  Idukki, on Tuesday that  Mr Joice’s reaction was  emotional.  “I have told Mr Oommen Chandy and Mr Ramesh Chennithala  that no case needs to be registered against the MP. Laws cannot change the mind of a person.  The issue cannot be rectified by the criminal procedure code or the Indian penal code,”  he said.

He would  implement what the Adivasi Samrakshana Samithi and the Oorukoottam had demanded regarding the road, he  said. Mr  Radhakrishnan and Mr  Joice George shared a stage at Kumaly at the valedictory function of the ‘Wildlife week’ observance.

Some  Youth Congress activists were injured  in a minor scuffle with  DYFI activists  near the stage.  Further trouble was avoided when the minister reprimanded the activists.
