For water sport enthusiasts, Bhadra’s the perfect river
The calm Bhadra river is ideal for rafting
Chikmagalur: Bhadra river in Chikmagalur sees water sport activity round the year attracting water sport enthusiasts in either white water rafting or kayaking.
“It’s a mild river unlike river Ganga and rafting in river Bhadra is smooth without any hassles to those who take to the water here,” said Krishna, director of Capture HR Bound Training and Adventure Sports and added that rafting takes place from June to October and Kayaking from October to May in the river.
When water in river Bhadra rises during the monsoon, rafting gets into full swing and attracts people from far off places especially Bengaluru. Mr Krishna said “We have 8 km, 16 km, 22km and 40 km rafting in river Bhadra close to Kalasa in Chikmagalur. The 40 km rafting is possible only when water in the river is high. This year we were planning to close rafting a couple of days back but there was rainfall in the region which brought life to the river again and we continued with rafting.”
Those interested can take to individual as well as group rafting in the river.
“We have safety measures in place as per international standards and so far, nothing untoward has happened when people take to rafting or kayaking in the river,” Krishna claimed.
