Women demand social security
Macharla police tried to pacify the old women but they were adamant
Guntur: The old women of Macharla town on Tuesday disrupted Janmabhoomi meeting protesting the removal of their names from social security pension scheme.
Macharla municipality chairman G. Sridevi started the meeting proceedings, but M. Bhagyamma and others of the third ward in the town rushed to the dais protesting the removal of their names from the pension scheme.
They lamented that social security pension is very helpful to them for their livelihood but some local leaders have pressurised the officials to remove their names as beneficiaries.
Macharla police led by sub-inspector K. Singaiah tried to pacify the old women but they were adamant.
Third ward councillor Sk Karimullah also alleged that the Telugu Desam leaders are pressurising officials for the inclusion of TD supporters as beneficiaries by removing present beneficiaries. He also demanded inclusion of removed beneficiaries.
Macharla municipal commissioner C. Muralikrishna assured about the conduct of a fresh survey in the next two days for the inclusion of eligible beneficiaries which restored Janmabhoomi meeting.
