Mumbai: According to a recent report, a key witness in the 2002 Salman Khan hit and run case has told Mumbai Court that the actor was driving the car that killed several people on the sidewalks of Mumbai.
The witness, who happened to be a valet parking assistant at JW Mariott hotel, said Salman was in the driver’s seat of the land cruiser at the hotel, and was accompanied by three friends.
There have been major twists and turns in the pending case. Previous reports stated that out of a total of 63 documents, 7 original files went missing. The documents were later found in one of the inspector’s rooms and may have been displaced from the record room during a renovation of the police station.
The case, dragging on for over a decade, also took a twist earlier this year when the magistrate, after examining 17 witnesses, held that the charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder was made out against Salman and referred the matter to a sessions court, as cases under this offence are tried by a higher court.
