Chennai: The Mahila Court in Chennai sentenced the managing director of a manpower consultancy agency to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment  on the charge of repeatedly raping a young employee. Sessions judge Meena Sathish also laid a fine of Rs 26,000 on him for the offence.
 
After completing B Sc computer science Kumutha, 22, (name changed) of Kundrathur was searching for a placement. She contacted Priya of Global World Biz Service, Chetput, a human resource agency. Based on her advice, she met Antony Jhon Milton, 29, managing director of the company.
 
Assuring her a placement in the agency with a pay of Rs 40,000 per month, he told her to come to work, dressed in jeans and shirts. Kumutha joined the company on April 2, 2012.  On April 14, 2012, after other employees left  office, he invited her to his room and attempted to misbehave with her. 
 
When she resisted, he sprayed sedative gas on her face whereupon she fainted. On gaining consciousness, she found herself in the toilet of his room without any clothes and realised that she had been raped. She also noticed that Milton had filmed the entire sequence with his cellphone.
 
Milton warned Kumutha not to disclose the incident to anyone. He threatened to release the video on YouTube if she refused to satisfy his carnal desire and continued to rape Kumutha in the office. Unable to withstand the torture, she attempted to commit suicide in her house on May 1, 2012. Subsequently, she disclosed the reason for resorting to the extreme step.
 
Based on a complaint, the All Women police station, Kilpauk, registered a case against Milton. Denying the allegations, Milton said that the case had been falsely lodged against him. On completion of the trial, the judge sentenced him to undergo 10 years’ RI and imposed  a fine of Rs 26,000.
