Hudhud, new cyclone threat to AP and Odisha coast
A severe cyclonic storm may hit in the next 24 hours, predicts MET

VISAKHAPATNAM:The deep depression over north Andaman Sea intensified on Wednesday into a cyclonic storm that has been named Hudhud.
According to the Meteorological department, the cyclonic system will intensify into a severe cyclonic storm over the next 24 hours and into a very severe cyclonic storm in the subsequent 36 hours.
Hudhud is expected to make landfall on October 12 and cross north coastal Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coast, between Visakhapatnam and Gopalpur, around noon.
In this regard, the met department has issued weather warnings which include heavy rainfall, wind and rough sea conditions. Heavy and very heavy rainfall will be witnessed at a few places across Vizag, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts of north coastal Odisha and extremely heavy rainfalls will lash the south Odisha coast from the evening of October 11.
At the time of the cyclone warning, Hudhud was 1000 km off the coast of Vizag in a east-southeast direction and 970 km from Gopalpur, and was moving at a speed of 80-90 kmph gusting towards 100 kmph. It is expected to reach speeds of about 150 kmph.
