Hyderabad: APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday demanded that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu institute a high-level probe into the allegations pertaining to the cloud seeding project (Megha Madhanam) during the Congress regime.
In a letter to Mr Naidu, the APCC president said “Since the allegations were levelled by you recently in Kalyandurgam in Anantapur district, it will be appropriate for you to launch a high-level probe either by the CBI or by a sitting High Court or Supreme Court judge and prove the allegations.”
He said while Mr Naidu was in the Opposition, similar charges of abuse, misuse of political power and several irregularities took place in awarding the contract for taking up the cloud seeding project.
“Now that you are back in power, your allegations against me carry more weight. You made the allegations in the presence of former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. I demand a high-level probe not only on the “Megha Madhanam” project, but also into any other allegations levelled against me ever since I have been an MLA,” Mr Reddy said.
The APCC president reminded Mr Naidu that when allegations of a similar nature were lodged before the Lokayuktha a few years ago by TD leaders, the same Lokayuktha dismissed their plea and passed strictures against them.
