Rota virus spreading in Visakhapatnam city
The medical experts suggest the healthiest habits to get rid of the virus
Visakhapatnam: Rota virus has been spreading in some areas of Vizag, resulting in diarrhoea, especially in children. They said that virus is spreading rapidly than the previous time. They are receiving cases of rota virus in urban health centres like Gajuwaka, Gopala patnam, in the past few days.
The medical experts suggest the healthiest habits to get rid of the virus. Contaminated food and water are main origins of such viruses. They said that such cases are very less previously and now rising.
So the doctors have advised the public to be aware of their health and be conscious regarding hazardous foods and drinks, especially to avoid wayside food, where there is no hygiene as they don’t use safe drinking water during the making of such items.
Dr T Srinivas, senior medical officer of GVMC said, “We confirm whether they are affected with rota virus by stool testing. If they are confirmed as rota effected, then they will be treated as a special case.”
The virus infects and damages the cells in small intestine and as a result the patients suffer from vomiting and watery motions. The virus spreads in the areas affected by diarrhoea and makes the situation more complex.
Everybody should maintain personnel hygiene
If they are confirmed as rota virus affected, they should consume the oral rehydration solution frequently to restore the water in their body.
The virus can come to us even by the shaking hands with the affected person.
