Nokia’s Here map now available for Samsung users
The map app will soon be ported across all other platforms
Mumbai: Nokia on Wednesday launched the beta version of its map app, HERE, which for now is exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices. The app was made available for download on October 8, after Nokia announced the imminent release of the app last month. The navigation app, which was earlier available only for Windows phone, will soon be ported across other platforms.
The app right now is available for Galaxy devices running on Android Jelly Bean and above, and it will come preloaded in all the new Samsung Galaxy devices.
The defining feature of this location-based service app is its collection of offline content. Users can simply download the maps of the areas they require, which they can then access without an Internet connection. This feature essentially saves a user from the trouble of waiting for the navigation maps to load, especially during emergency.
The Finnish firm’s location-based services arm, HERE, will also provide solutions to Samsung’s new smartwatch, Gear S.
